The Brigade at Brixham

Our annual weekly camp to Grenville House in Brixham, Devon

Every year in the Summer Holidays, Brigade members get the opportunity to go away on week long camps. For the past 10 years, we have been going to Grenville House in Brixham to take part in many outdoor activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, team building, raft building and much more.

All Brigade Camps have a theme to them. Last years theme was "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa". All brigade members are split into teams based on the theme who compete against each other throughout the week in order to be crowned the winner. The teams compete against each other in themed games, token hunts, daily puzzles, tidiest bed/drawer and are all ways teams can get points to help their team win.

As well as taking part in activities arranged by Grenville House, every afternoon, we all go out on trips, this can be to any of the beaches around Torbay, to the water park, to Torquay and much more. We also have two days where where we have full days out whether it be going to Dartmouth or Woodlands Theme Park or other places.

In the evenings, everyone meets together to watch the film the theme is based on before splitting into age related groups to discuss the film and how it relates to our lives as Christians. After the discussion groups, we have a short period of worship before having free time where the older youths are allowed to go up into Brixham.

The week finishes with the Brigade marching down to the Methodist Church in Brixham for a Sunday service before heading back home.

All food is provided for during the week and at a cost of £125.00 (2010 prices - excluding activities) it is very good value for money as well as helping to build friendships as well as making new friends and grow in the love of Jesus Christ.
