Put some shine into your life with the Sunshine Girls
Sunshine Girls is a woman's group, run by women for women. We meet 3/4 times a year for social events usually on Saturday nights.
In the past we have had film nights with 'Chick Flicks' like Mamma Mia and Sing-a-long Grease. We also have bring and share evenings and themed evenings such as the Italian Night we had where we made pizza, garlic bread, bolognese and other Italian fare, we then spent the rest of the evening socialising and sampling the food we cooked.
The Sunshine Girls held their first meeting of 2010 with a Bollywood theme. Many of us braved the winter weather and we started the evening with a curry for the adventurous and a chicken and rice dish for the less willing. The food was followed by the film of the evening which was Bride and Prejudice - a Bollywood take on the classic novel Pride and Prejudice. We also had our customary wine and chocolates as no Sunshine Girls meeting is complete without them!
The 2nd meeting of the year was a chocolate fest held just before Easter. The evening started with prayer followed by Richard Smith showing us how to make rum truffles. After the demonstration and cookery tips, Martine Brumwell showed us how to make beautiful decorated Easter boxes to put the truffles in. As always, the sunshine girls had the customary wine and chocolate including one of Rosemary Preston's famous Chocolate Sponge Cakes. We were even treated to a chocolate fountain with some fresh fruit for dipping.
Our next meeting will be in the summer with a barbeque. The date and time are TBC.
